"Balance & Symmetry"
I think this is finished, anyways I set it aside for a while to
work on another project.

I have decided to repaint one of my first fantasy pieces,
"The Sorcerer's Cottage"

This is the original pencil sketch for the "Sorcerer's Cottage"
Drawn during a very long staff meeting from my previous life at AES.

This is the original painting, created in 2002 right after I opened my
studio at the Shirt Factory in Glens Falls. I am going to redo the piece
with 12 years more experience and knowledge, should be fun to see
how it turns out.

Nearing the final stages, will put in highlights and further "aging" tomorrow.
This has been a lot of fun, and I have an idea for one more piece with these
guys, but it will have to wait for a bit.
I will post the final version late tomorrow.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Progressing quite nicely, I think. At this point they look like they
are floating above the surface. Kind of a nice visual.
After this piece is finished, I think I will revisit my early fantasy
work as I return to the "Realm"

As you can tell, I work from upper left to lower right. This time,
I am being very careful not to scratch the ampersand panel as I am
leaving the panel unpainted to create the background.

Starting the color work for "Balance & Symmetry"

It doesn't show up very well in this photo, but the drawing
has been transferred to the Ampersand Pastelbord that I work on.
This support is by far my favorite.

This is a detail of the first clown being painted. Layering in the first
layer of pastel, a Prussian blue. Several more layers will be worked on
top of this, just getting started.

Step 1
Setting Up
Setting up the still life, I had to relearn my balancing skills as I built this.
That's where the idea for the title came from.
This will be called "Symmetry & Balance"

Step 2
The Drawing
Starting the pencil drawing that will later be transferred to the
Ampersand Pastelbord panel that I work on. This is a fun step for me
as I have always loved to draw. Art in its purest form.

"Bill Ding Stacking Clowns"
A new piece nearing completion. Just received this set
from a seller on ebay. They stated that the set was worn,
chipped and heavily used. Just what I am looking for!

I had a set of these when I was 5 or 6 years old, never forgot
how I enjoyed stacking and locking them together.

Another painting of these guys will be coming soon.

New Work

A recently completed pastel, "Rocket Racer",
pays homage to those old tin, friction motored
toys that I grew up with.

The piece is 16 x 20, so the size of the rocket is much
larger than the actual toy.

Hope you enjoy, more work coming soon.
