Starting the color work for "Balance & Symmetry"

It doesn't show up very well in this photo, but the drawing
has been transferred to the Ampersand Pastelbord that I work on.
This support is by far my favorite.

This is a detail of the first clown being painted. Layering in the first
layer of pastel, a Prussian blue. Several more layers will be worked on
top of this, just getting started.

  1. Why do you choose to transfer your drawing onto your surface instead of drawing right on it?

    1. I transfer the finished image because I make so many changes during the drawing process that it coulld damage the surface of the pastelbord by constantly erasing on it. I try to work out everything on paper first,

  2. How does the tooth on ampersand board compare to other substrates , such as Uart 400 or wallis ?

    1. Sandi, I haven't tried wallis, which I think is fairly rough, the surface is smoother than the Uart, but still holds a lot of pastel.
